Rebecca J. Sargent, CTFA, Senior Partner

Prior to forming Rebecca J. Sargent, Esq., LLC in 2008, Rebecca was Senior Vice President, Senior Trust Officer at Union Trust Company since 1994. Before Union Trust Company, she practiced law at Loughlin & Wade in Portsmouth, NH where she concentrated her practice in estate planning, probate and real estate. In addition, Rebecca has been an instructor in various estate planning investment topics at Casco Bay College, New Hampshire College, Acadia Senior College, Belfast Senior College and Ellsworth Adult Education.

Rebecca holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from The Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. degree from the University of Maine School of Law. She is admitted to the bar in Maine and New Hampshire. She is a member of the Maine, New Hampshire and American Bar Associations as well as the Hancock County Bar Association. She is also a graduate with honors of the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University and the ABA’s Stonier Graduate School of Executive Bank Management at Georgetown University. She is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor Program, the Certified Council of the Institute of Certified Bankers.

Rebecca is a Trustee of the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, where she serves as the Treasurer and is a Board Member, as well as a member of the Executive Committee for the James Russell Wiggins Down East Family YMCA.

Debra A. Ehrlenbach, Consultant

Debbie has over 27 years of professional experience in accounting and auditing. She is a graduate of Husson College where she received an A.S. in Accounting and is a Certified Fiduciary and Investment Risk Management Specialist (CFIRS). Prior to joining Rebecca J. Sargent, Esq., LLC, Debbie was the SVP Internal Auditor for Union Trust Company. Debbie began her accounting career at Horton, McFarland and Veysey, CPA where she specialized in tax preparation, payroll and recordkeeping services.

Debbie is active in several non-profit organizations to include treasurer of two local organizations. She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Fiduciary Investment Risk Management Association (FIRMA).

Sylvia L. Joy, Paralegal/Trust Administrator

Prior to joining Rebecca J. Sargent, Esq., LLC, Sylvia was Assistant Vice President, Trust Officer at Union Trust Company for the last 9 years. Previously she had over 30 years of trust and estate experience as a legal assistant at Hale and Hamlin in Ellsworth. Sylvia is responsible for estate and personal trust administration and other paralegal duties.

Sylvia attended Husson College. She serves on the Eleanor Widener Dixon Clinic Committee. Sylvia is a native of Ellsworth, Maine. She and her family currently reside in Gouldsboro, Maine.

Deborah F. Preble, Office Manager

Debbie has over 20 years of experience in accounting, payroll and auditing. She is a graduate of Ellsworth High School and has 30 years of banking experience. Prior to joining Rebecca J. Sargent, Esq., LLC, Debbie was the AVP, Audit/Payroll Specialist for Union Trust Company.

Rhonda A. Reardon, Legal Assistant

Rhonda began her financial career at Union Trust in 1999. Previously, Rhonda served in the United States Coast Guard for 7 years. Upon her honorable discharge, she moved to Maine and served as the Ellsworth Office Manager for the American Red Cross in Eastern Maine.

In her role as Legal Assistant, Rhonda is responsible for administration of fiduciary accounts, coordination of client matters and office administration.

Rhonda has attended various banking and computer related courses and has successfully completed the Northern New England School of Banking course. She is also a graduate of the ABA National Trust School and the ABA National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She is a member of the Down East Family YMCA Childcare Advisory Committee. Rhonda and her family live in Ellsworth, Maine.
